Is Spirituality Worth It?
Have you ever put in so much time and energy towards your spirituality and as you’re putting in this time and energy you find yourself becoming more and more certain of what direction you’re headed? Like you’re certain that just based off what you’ve been instructed to do thus far by spirit and based off implementing those very instructions you’ve experienced particular occurrences that paints you a clearer picture of where this is all headed. You think to yourself that you are finally starting to connect with your spirituality and get things rolling…and then life interjects..snatching you out of your euphoria and throws you back to the wolves..and all that you just recently thought you knew you begin to question every part of its very existence..well what did this really mean? Maybe I did not hear what I thought I was hearing? Who was I really talking to? I guess spirituality is not powerful..Maybe I am just not powerful..It was just a mere figment of my imagination because obviously spirituality is not real and those who swear by it are just desperate for some strange phenomena or crazy…
Most who say that they’ve never questioned their abilities and their faith are not being honest with themselves…it’s the questions that get you the clarity needed. Spirituality is not a set of rules that correspond to the same outcome if those same rules are applied. Spirituality is based off what journey is needed to get an individual to the destination that the individual is destined to arrive at. We first have to shake the notion that everything within our spirituality has to look familiar to us and has to go the way we would assume is the “correct way” to yield a particular result…what if I told you that spirituality is meant to make us feel emotions such as joy, happiness, humorous, resilience, powerful, strong, courageous, magical, sad, angry depressed, lonely, hurt, weak, and well you can finish the list…<gasps>how dare I speak such negativity right?? because spirituality is all love and light right??...No..it’s not…
When you embark on a new job your first day in, typically, you are not given a promotion because you showed up to work on your first day. You eventually get promoted because you built some form of trust amongst you and your supervisor and you proved yourself capable of taking on the tasks of your job and now you can be trusted with more. You allowed yourself to learn new things and improve on others. Now let’s say it takes you 2 years to get a promotion..was every day at work a great day? We’re you happy every day? Did the process of every task, that you successfully completed, work out in the exact way that you pictured it to work out based off the initial process? Did you feel resilient every day? Did that unhappiness at some point with your job not cause you to go back and reassess your job and reconstruct a way that seem to make things flow much better? On the days where you felt sad, angry, depressed, & overworked..did those moments of emotions interfere with you getting this promotion that you are now being given?..obviously not because you got the promotion…how does this tie into spirituality??
You showed up, put in the work, allowed yourself to learn, improved, and you kept going…you weren’t perfect and the journey to your promotion did not look perfect, but what does perfection look like anyway?...just as you had to prove yourself to your supervisor to gain the trust needed to move to the next level, the requirement is the same when embarking on your own spirituality…it’s the negative emotions that reveal to us that something is wrong and needs attending to…and it is the positive emotions that reaffirm that we are at peace with where we are in the moment and we recognize our hard work…both the positive and the negative yielded us to where we were destined to arrive to…we just had to know how to utilize the presence of them both to get there…
